Repotting~When is the right time?
Your plants will outgrow their original containers and need to be repotted at some point in time. If roots appear to be matted near the surface of the soil or roots are sticking out of the drainage hole, it is definitely time for repotting. Repotting gives the plants a chance to "stretch out" and grow larger. Plants typically do not need to be repotted more than once in a single year, usually every few years is enough to do the trick.
Turn your container upside down and gently slide your plant out. Trim large roots and try to untangle roots as best as possible. Place plant into a larger container and refill with new potting soil. Water well and add a slow-release plant fertilizer.
